Description
The Project Manager supports the operational, financial, and project management functions of the Health Care Innovation Office, including the operation of APA's Mental & Behavioral Health Registry (MBHR). Collaborates across the Health Innovation & Quality Team within the Practice Directorate, especially matrixed support to the Healthcare Finance Office.
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field. Master's degree preferred with demonstrated proficiency in research-related writing.
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in project management or in a scientific, research, or health organization. Experience acquired during or as part of educational experiences will be considered.
Demonstrated background in the review and understanding of psychological and scientific research.
Able to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks in an accurate and timely manner, with attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills.
Computer Skills Required
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Data Entry and Analysis (e.g., SPSS), and Survey Software (e.g., SurveyGizmo).
Comfortable and competent with Virtual Meeting Technology (e.g., Zoom, Teams) and utilizing research literature databases (e.g., PsycInfo, Ovid, Google Scholar).
Responsibilities
The Project Manager supports the Director of Operations and Innovation in executing strategic initiatives to leverage technology, innovation, and data to address issues within health care, including the promotion of routine measurement in the provision of psychological services. The project manager will be expected to work closely with staff from other offices within the Practice Directorate to support efforts on aligned initiatives. The project manager also supports the dissemination of information about the value of psychological knowledge and services to professional stakeholders and the public.
This requires:
Conducting relevant research including both self-directed and requested literature search and use of multiple information databases.
In-depth knowledge and experience in identifying, synthesizing, and summarizing literature relevant to health care, business marketplace, and professional psychology; the ability to understand survey methodology and statistical analysis; and contribute to preparation of background materials and reports for content experts and other external and internal stakeholders.
Manipulating and analyzing small and large data sets using statistical techniques and providing reports.
Coordinating work with various stakeholders to update web content and develop resources for practitioners.
Solves complex problems in partnership with APA internal stakeholders, including leaders in the Education, Communications, and ITS departments.
