Job Description
General Motors' Creative Design organization is looking for an Assistant Program Manager- California Advanced Studio who will represent Design in Engineering meetings, ensure that our vehicles have great craftsmanship, perceived quality, usability, and an engaged customer experience. The successful candidate is highly skilled at program management, creative problem solving, and has a passion for getting the details right to deliver great products.

Job Responsibilities
Implement structure, processes, procedures and documentation to improve the CA design team's workflow.
Establish a strong, clear and unbiased relationship between Warren, CA, Operations, Design and Engineering
Consistently interact between all partners daily, keeping information flowing and up to date throughout the studio.
Program Management capability including program timing, issue escalation, change requests.
Understanding the GVDP and the specific Design landmarks and work processes.
Workload modelling and 30/60/90 outlook for design results and subprocesses.
Ability to navigate high ambiguity projects that are outside of typical GVDP processes and results.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships between Vehicle Program teams, Design Staff, Shop, Engineering, Marketing and Manufacturing organizations.
Advocate for the voice of Design in Engineering meetings (PET, VAPIR, etc)
Participates in Brand Program Operations Meetings (POPs) to facilitate issue resolution
Foster and maintain strong relationships with global and regional Design colleagues.
Ability to maintain budget & headcount tracking
Single Point of Contact to all functional organizations for the program/project(s) that are supported within California Advanced Studio.
Ability to work with all levels of the organizations and facilitate Exec Chief Engineer (ECE) reviews along with VP of Design reviews as needed.
Ability to work effectively with other Design Brands, support organizations, and Design Fabrication.
Support everyday studio needs in collaboration with the Studio Engineering & Sculpting Teams
Additional Job Description
Successful Design Assistant Program Managers are preferred to have the following:


Bachelor's Degree qualifications in design, engineering, project management or equivalent work experience
Preferably at least one year of experience in program/project management
2 years of experience working on design or engineering of vehicle interiors/exteriors
Strong communication skills to all levels of management (both written and oral), including managerial courage, & excellent influencing and negotiation skills
Ability to think outside-the-box in high pressure situations
A high level of project/program management skills; Such as: Ability to maintain good organization, meet targets amongst many inputs and changing feature content, and a Detail oriented problem-solver
Experience or background working with global partners and suppliers
Self-motivating ability to work with minimal direction -- Strong ability to work independently, and effectively with others
