Organization: VICTR Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY In your pivotal role of Sr Communications Specialist, you will strategize, plan, develop, and disseminate internal and external scientific communication materials independently and under the guidance of project or product personnel. About the Department: The Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical & Translational Research (VICTR) is Vanderbilt's virtual home for clinical and translational research. Supported by Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Office of Research and the NIH-sponsored Clinical and Translational Service Award (CTSA), the mission of the institute is to transform the way ideas and research discoveries make their way from origin to patient care. VICTR functions to help researchers and clinicians do their jobs better by providing tools and support to improve the quality of research, publications, grant writing, and training for future doctors and researchers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of online content, scientific presentations, and communications assets targeting internal or external audiences Develop and manage communications strategies for departments, products, and projects in conjunction with stakeholders and leadership Track and measure outcomes of communication strategies and campaigns Serve as a project manager for strategic communications pertaining to a variety of projects, initiatives, events, and campaigns Ensure consistent messaging, branding, and communication standards are applied to teams and projects throughout the organization Serve as liaison for communications needs involving external partners or vendors The responsibilities listed here are a general overview of the position - additional duties may be assigned TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES Communication (Advanced) - Clearly, effectively, and respectfully communicates to employees, stakeholders, partners, and end users, including presentation of scientific and programmatic materials to general and executive level audiences. Applies appropriate strategies and techniques depending on communication objectives and target audience. Customer Service - (Advanced) - Demonstrates a high level of customer sensitivity and has shown insight into customer business issues. Demonstrates a work ethic where customers display confidence and trust in the service provided. Anticipates, plans for, and meets customer needs and service levels. Removes barriers and establishes procedures to improve organizational customer service activities. Project Coordination - (Intermediate) - Performs project tracking and reporting relative to task completion dates, dependency effects, problem anticipation, schedule conflicts, and assignment to appropriate staff for resolution. Assumes responsibility [as appropriate] for resolving issues and seeing work through to successful completion. Tracks success metrics and obtains feedback at critical milestones and at project completion to ensure project efforts meet expectations. Networking (Intermediate) - Build relationships through industry contacts, key partners, professional organizations, and individuals. Occasional travel to scientific conference events is expected.
