Project Accountant
The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of a specific project or group of projects. Work closely with project managers and department heads to ensure that the financial goals of the project are met. The Project Accountant will be responsible for concurrent projects and will act as a liaison between accounting and project management ensuring accurate and consistent billing and financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
Job costing, project billing, subcontractor payments, project reporting
Understanding of the overall project execution process including budgeting, cost reporting and control, scheduling, and billing
Work in conjunction with Project Management team to meet project financial objectives
Create and monitor project budgets, track expenses, and ensure that project financials stay within budget.
Generate financial reports for project stakeholders, including project managers, department heads, and senior management.
Analyze financial data to identify trends and potential issues that may impact the financial performance of the project.
Coordinate with external partners such as vendors and contractors to ensure that project expenses are properly accounted for.
Participate in project planning meetings to provide financial guidance and support.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related business degree
Five (5) or more years of experience in project accounting, construction accounting
Construction industry experience required
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, functions, practices, and procedures within the construction field including cost coding and pricing, purchase orders, etc.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and stay flexible, while meeting deadlines and goal
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Experience with project management software and financial reporting tools.
Excellent communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
