Position summaryAre you a dynamic people leader who is passionate about guiding a project through the complexities of its lifecycle? Every Special Project needs a skilled Program Manager to guide a team with vision and focus, and that’s where you come in. As our Special Projects Manager, you will lead high-priority non-technical initiatives for our client Amazon. You will manage scope, create a plan, develop timelines and document SOP’s for execution and lead a staff to support you. If you thrive on the ability to flex between the strategic and the tactical and have a high level of energy and flexibility to get things done in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, we want to hear from you! Schedule: Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm (hours may vary) Location: Seattle, Bellevue and Redmond Salary: $88,000 per year Key responsibilities / Essential FunctionsLeadershipThe Special Projects Manager will be assigned unique yet complex projects within the NWC@Amazon Division (Dogs At Work, Team Suites, Executive Business Center) and will be responsible for the human leadership, direction, and continuity of these programs. Responsible for the overall performance of the Program ensuring that all procedures, processes and policies are understood, followed and successfully executedFoster a culture where your team is maintaining employee conversations as per process related to employee performance, always willing to jump in when additional leadership is necessaryManage and participate in efforts to retain and build your team in the following ways - as a Hiring Manger when recruiting, training and supporting staff when onboarding; planning, assigning and directing work when direction is needed; and rewarding and providing corrective feedback to employees when resolving escalationsWork collaboratively across the organization with different job levels and departments and Is not averse to changeFoster a spirit of teamwork and unity that allows for disagreement over ideas within the team, understands how to manage conflict and strives for win-win resolutions Customer ExperienceAct as the escalation point to handle situations with callers, visitors, community members, vendor partners, and all guests as requested by your team leadersAct as liaison between Northwest Center, Amazon and other Vendors ensure continuity across campus locationsEnsure that team leaders drive their staff to provide elevated customer support for callers, visitors, community members, vendor partners, and all guests entering the Amazon spaceStakeholder Engagement: Ability to work effectively at the Sr. Leadership level, while remaining focused and committed to Northwest Center’s overall business interest and strategic growth objectives for the Division.Builds valued relationships consistently, enabling on-going and effective partnerships focused on achieving shared objectives for the customer and Northwest Center.Partners with stakeholders to support their decision-making processes; challenges thinking to ensure accountability and good stewardship.Execution and Delivery: Identifies gaps and anticipates risks; acts to connect parties, address risks and determine solutions.Reinforces culture of shared ownership in program progress and successful completion.Manages projects at startup and for extended durations with potential to warm handoff into operations team. Some projects/scope may remain under this role and not transitioned into a production/operations team. This determination will be made based on a number of factors including duration, complexity and bandwidth of this position and other teams.Commits significant focus, energy and/or resources to reach solutions; actively looks for new methods or processes to achieve desired results. Documentation, SOP’s, Training: Creates clear concise and thorough documentation for project execution.Develops SOP’s to support implementation and training material in the support of rapid execution while exceeding SLA’s and achievement of project timeline.Excellent practitioner in empowering teams to meet the deployment objectives and delegating work to othersMentor, motivate and lead team members of the project team.Effective Communication: Flawlessly communicates decisions, plans, goals and strategies to all levels clearly, including internal and external stakeholders, Executives and frontline staff.Organizes and communicates information clearly and simply to drive actions.Communicates to diverse audiences so that information is credible, digestible and easily understood.Adjusts communication based on content and audience.Technical Aptitude: Considers options that span practices and functions and addresses each with a logical approach. Able to anticipate functionality/system problems based on knowledge gained.Additional Duties: Any additional duties as requested in support of the NWC@Amazon Operations.Needed experience & requirementsEducation• BA Degree in business/related field or equivalentExperience• PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent which can be acquired after hire and will be supported by NWC5 years of relevant project management experience focused on customer support and administrative services• 4 years of experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels across multiple business units• Served as vendor manager for large scale enterprise customer in an operations function• Strong influencer who is great at connecting the dots at the organization, preference for working knowledge of Amazon ecosystem or equivalent scale technology organization• Demonstrated success in fast paced, agile environment to drive new projects to completionDemonstrable Skills• Commitment to Northwest Center’s mission of inclusion and ability to successfully work in a diverse environment.• Ability to practice a high level of confidentiality.• Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others. Is not averse to change.Working Conditions & Physical demands• Must be able to frequently carry and lift a backpack containing a laptop and other supplies, up to 50 pounds.• May need to carry supplies to other buildings.• Variable working hours between 07:30AM and 6:00PM with occasional nights and weekends• It is a combination of desk and actively visiting several Amazon buildings so the ability to move consistently within a 1.5 radius is required.• Ability to read, write, communicate and comprehend the English language• Ability to see both distance and details at close range, within a few feet of the observer (with or without corrective lenses).• Ability to identify and understand the speech of another person (with or without a personal auditory hearing device).• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including occasionally arriving early, staying late on a moment’s notice and occasional evening and weekend shifts.• This is a dog friendly environment with over 1000 dogs on campus.
