What's the role?
Aviation Assurance Lead Onshore Legacy Air Transport Operations / RPAS – Americas
This role manages the air transport exposure and assurance activities for Onshore Legacy Air Transport Operations and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) or drone use in the Americas. In the execution of its accountabilities the role serves as principle focal point for onshore air transport activities and general RPAS/drone use of the Company in Canada, the United States and in select South American Countries. The role is split; 50% dedicated to Onshore Legacy Air Transport Operations; and because of the increasing scope of RPAS/drone use, 50% dedicated to RPAS/drone activities both Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) and Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) in the Americas. The incumbent will be accountable for the management, control and improvement of contracted air operations, air operations emergency response, providing assurance, delivering on Aviation safety and cost performance targets, functioning as the Aviation Assurance Lead, responsible Aviation Manager, and Air Operations Supervisor (AOS) for subject activities as required and will assist to develop, prepare, negotiate and implement harmonized air support contracts and strategies (both initially or on renewal) to ensure high standards of aviation safety and efficiency at a competitive cost.. The role reports to the Regional Aviation Manager, Head of Aircraft Services - Americas within the Supply Chain Deepwater Americas organization.
The role is accountable for contract management, air transport assurance, aviation emergency response, aviation safety, and responsibilities as directed by the Regional Aviation Manager to include:
The role is responsible for the air transport activity and aviation assurance for onshore air transport activities and general RPAS/drone use of the Company in Canada, the United States and in select South American Countries which includes onshore helicopter transportation of passengers, long-line external loads, and fixed wing LIDAR data acquisition flights in Northern Canadian Provinces.
The role provides air transport technical expertise regarding contracted and subcontracted fixed wing and helicopter charter operations, RPAS/drone use, and Marine Pilot transfer.
The role also provides air transport technical expertise relative to helicopter and RPAS/drone (both VLOS and BVLOS) pipeline surveillance flights, methane detection activities, and emergent air transport activity.
As well, the role provides air transport technical expertise for VLOS RPAS/drone activities and ad hoc fixed wing passenger flights, Air Evac, and Hurricane Evacuation planning and execution.
Beyond the legacy onshore air transport operations and activities there is a significant and growing focus on RPAS/drone operations and the integration of RPAS/drone systems and future capabilities that will reduce air transport HSSE risk, reduce cost, and reduce carbon emissions.
The transformational opportunities of RPAS/drones are immense and fully 50% of this role is dedicated to RPAS/drones, across the varied business units the Americas Air Transport Team supports.
Future integration of RPAS/drones will be a step change in efficient operational and safety capability and will require dedicated leadership and organizational acumen to operationalize it in supporting all our supported business units.
What we need from you?
It is your experience (at least 20 years) in the aviation industry and have held management positions within an energy industry company, aircraft operating company, or equivalent military organization. And demonstrated leadership in aviation safety management systems in an operational environment. Significant supply chain or logistics experience in the energy industry is preferred.
Furthermore, you should have:
A legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Have a current valid Driver’s License. Able to qualify for a US TWIC
Able to meet the requirements of the Job Competence Profile as an Aircraft Skill Pool Air Operations Supervisor and be able to pass Air Transport TA2 competency examination requirements
Meet the competency requirements as a contract holder
Aviation maintenance experience required with at least an awareness of aircraft maintenance practices including the management of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, maintenance quality assurance principles, and serviceability and dispatch requirements
Strong RPAS/drone operational and technical experience as a commercial operator or technical advisor
Experience working with the Federal Aviation Administration or other National Aviation Authority on integration of RPAS/drones within international airspace, national airspace, and industry
Supply Chain or Logistics experience required with at least an awareness of the principles of logistics, and at a minimum, an awareness of time-distance considerations, aviation logistical support requirements, budgeting, and hazardous material handling
Project management experience required with at least an understanding of project management techniques, budgeting, and scheduling
Administrator level preferred / user level required, competence with advanced aviation data applications, reporting tools and software suites
Strong public speaking/briefing skills required. Must be able to communicate effectively with senior management, external bodies, and all level of employees within direct organization.
Strong technical writing skills required. Must be able to clearly communicate policies and procedures, and develop technical specifications
Physically able to work in an offshore environment, achieve and maintain a Helicopter Underwater Escape Training certification, and conduct personnel transfer offshore by swing line, personnel hoisting device, and other devices.
Must be a licensed pilot (ATPL [preferred] / CPL [acceptable]) or aircraft engineer (A&P licensed). FAA Part 107 Certificate required. Military equivalency for these credentials is acceptable.

Graduate of a civilian or military accident investigation course
Graduate of a civilian or military aviation safety course or equivalent Safety Management System (SMS) course
Graduate of a civilian or military maintenance management or maintenance quality assurance course
Graduate of a civilian or military experimental test pilot course
Graduate of a military maintenance test pilot course
Graduate of an OEM pilot or maintenance course
Graduate of an ISO 9001:2004 lead auditor’s course
