Summary
This position reports to the Sr Director Compensation and is responsible for leadership, direction, and functional expertise for CHS’ senior level employee compensation programs including base, short-term incentive and long-term incentive - based elements with the ability to design and administer competitive plans and programs. The ideal candidate will contribute at both hands-on and strategic levels to build compensation strategies on behalf of the enterprise. The goal is to provide compensation offerings that will retain and attract the world’s best talent to support the CHS business. This Global position will lead and facilitate various projects and will be assigned responsibilities with the option to be based remote full time with the ability to travel to Inver Grove Heights, MN as needed.
Responsibilities
Drive end to end ownership and provide expertise regarding the strategic design, implementation, communication, and administration of CHS executive compensation programs including annual and long-term incentives, and executive compensation policies and governance.
Collaborate across HR, Finance and Legal. This role will be integral in the development and preparation of all required compensation disclosures and related materials for the Governance and Executive committees of the CHS Board of Directors, including the annual Compensation Discussion and Analysis (CD&A), as well as a broad range of analyses, reports and executive presentations.
Partner with external consulting firms on market pricing, surveys, CEO pay ratio review and other ad hoc projects. Advise senior leadership regarding executive compensation trends and practices as applicable.
Stay abreast of market/industry trend, regulatory environment, and perspectives (proxy advisory firms, investors, consultants, activities, etc.); conduct ad-hoc research as needed.
Serve as a subject matter expert and provide hands on consultation on all executive programs for executive including administration and communication and sustains an unrelenting commitment to continuous improvement of existing practices and processes.
Oversee the year-end incentive award and merit forecasting and planning processes for executives.
Coordinate and closely collaborate with the executive talent and recruiting teams on all executive compensation recommendations and actions.
Develop and manage offer exceptions as well as out of cycle retention and compensation actions for executives.
Leverage knowledge of current best practices in the compensation field (e.g., theories, frameworks, technologies, and trends) and incorporate industry best practices into CHS compensation programs (e.g. Corporate Leadership Counsel, World At Work)

Minimum Qualifications (required)
Bachelor’s degree preferably in HR, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
10 years of progressive related experience, with significant experience in executive compensation including executive compensation analytics, long-term incentive plan design and administration, proxy, or CD&A experience and compensation support to C-Suite Officers and the Board of Directors.
Additional Qualifications
Compensation or Human Resources certifications, such as CCP or SPHR
Master’s degree in related field
Experience using Success Factors/SAP
Global experience
Strong change management skills
Small or mid-size company experience
Demonstrated strong consulting skills evidenced through experience partnering with senior level executives across HR, Finance, Legal, and the C-Suite.
Experience with a broad range of executive compensation programs, including long-term incentives (equity) programs
3-5 years of experience with demonstrated project management experience
Strong cross-functional partnership, influencing, and communication skills
Skilled at prioritizing deadlines in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple key priorities simultaneously
Working knowledge of executive compensation including federal, state, and local regulatory statutes, rules, and regulations as they apply to compensation base, annual incentive, and deferred compensation programs.
