Job Description:

What’s the role?

As a Project Leader Additive Technology, you will drive the definition of all lubricant additive (and specialty base fluid component) technical specifications to protect product performance and brand standards. You are also expected to maximize synergies and cost reduction opportunities for Global Lubricants and maintain a focus on lubricant additive data integrity and accuracy, whilst supporting the continuous improvement of Global Lubricants additive portfolio.

More specific responsibilities include:


Reviewing and maintaining robust and meaningful technical supply specifications for all lubricant additives/components
Obtaining component specification requirements from Lubricant Technology Managers at an early stage in the Product Development process, for engaging Suppliers accordingly and driving Technology Managers, Global Product Managers and Suppliers towards an agreed set of specifications
Ensuring additive component data is accurately managed through its full lifecycle from introduction to obsoletion, and coordinating routine cleansing to ensure the portfolio remains as lean as possible
Cross- examining data to deliver insight, influencing key business decisions and strategy
Ensuring fit-for-purpose documentation, covering additive Quality specifications, and ensuring appropriate protection of Product Quality and Shell IP in collaboration with Contract Holders, Contract Managers, Legal and Product Management
Supporting the approval of supplier-initiated management of change activities, with relevant Technology teams
Representing Technology in Contract Management Teams (CMT)
Reporting regular and accurate usage of biomaterials to ensure Compliance with Shell Group Policy
Providing technical support to Supplier Quality Assurance initiatives
Championing continuous improvement in the management of Component Quality and HSE in Global Lubricants


Dimensions:


Engages a wide range of stakeholders (Product Management, Technology, Procurement) and influences them to deliver on the above accountabilities without formal authority
Direct relationship with multiple additive suppliers for agreeing and reviewing the technical specifications of all lubricant additives, including protection of Shell’s IP and Quality objectives
Project outputs have significant impact on security of supply, cost of goods sold, and complexity reduction
Support the Senior Project Leader, Additive Technology in effective prioritization to deliver technical support as per business need, and steer strategy definition and implementation


What we need from you


Must have (min) Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
Proven experience in Product Quality
Experience in lubricant/grease formulations and/or components
Knowledge of Supply Chain, i.e., sourcing of raw materials, manufacture of finished products, and providing Quality Assurance end-to-end
Experience in delivering through others with or without formal authority and motivating people on difficult technical matters
Skilled at data management
Demonstrated leadership skills including teamwork, communication, prioritization, and change management
Ability and desire to build network and manage multiple interfaces
Self-starting: highly motivated and able to deliver independently
