Education and Experience : A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering or related field and four (4) years of experience in project management of systems or services or an Associate's Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering or related field and eight (8) years of experience in project management of systems or services.
Licenses and Certificates : A Valid Class C Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
Special Requirements : Be available to work beyond standard work day or work week hours as necessary.
General Purpose
Under direction, plan, coordinate and manage one or more projects which may impact a division or department throughout the project's lifecycle and implementation.
Typical Duties
Manage project activities in the areas of project planning, coordination, communication, and execution. Involves the management of diverse stakeholder expectations and cross-functional project teams. The Project Manager will execute, close and evaluate projects under their direction. Consult with managers or other technical experts in specific subject areas to obtain clarification of expected results. An executive level manager or director typically sponsors projects assigned to this class level. Review project to identify scope, required training and resources. Develop project plan in consultation with stakeholders. Identify project objectives and deliverables. Select and use project management tools and techniques to accomplish the project goals and objectives. Identify project team and assign work tasks. Collaborate with stakeholder and user department personnel during every phase of the project. Lead project team to produce a work breakdown structure that outlines the project plan; and assign duties, responsibilities and scope of authority to project team members. Develop and implement plans to communicate with the involved project stakeholders.
Lead the activities of interdisciplinary project teams with participating City departments and collaborate with consultants, vendors, contractors, and subcontractors in the implementation and deployment of projects. Monitor the progress of work assignments. Develop consensus on project schedules and inform team members of project progress and potential schedule slippages. Accommodate changes and updates to schedules and budgets. Track budget expenditures, and analyze project budget reports to calculate project expenses and identify excessive expenditures. Discuss budget issues with project team in order to resolve budget overruns and erroneous data. Examine cost estimates and compare to original budget. Identify efficient methods to accomplish work tasks. Lead project problem identification and resolution process. Administer project contracts; monitor and evaluate contractor performance. Manage risks and respond to changes in risk over the course of the project. Evaluate projects to make certain project results meet the intended goal, satisfy quality standards, and meet stakeholder expectations. Identify ways to improve project outcomes. Review plans with various specialists and subject matter experts, attend meetings and provide direction to all team members throughout the project life-cycle. Identify and resolve problems, and integrate and review schedules.
Maintain clear communication with project team members and stakeholders. Lead project team meetings and serve as primary ****,639.82 annually
