We are seeking a talented Senior System Architect to head up a team of dedicated software engineers and other IT professionals. As Chief Software Architect, you'll be responsible for leading the technology department, working with executive leadership to create long-term strategy and vision, and, of course, meeting the day-to-day operational needs of the organization.
Leadership is a key part of this role. You'll be called upon for guidance, management, mentoring, and advocacy.
This means that you'll be:
•Assuring that the strategy and vision of the organization is understood by your team
•Responsible for keeping abreast of both departmental and organizational goals, and making sure they mesh
•Actively engaging team members and ensuring team satisfaction
•Building the team through hiring, contracting and training, and cultivating the skills of the current staff
•Advocating for and articulating internal technology initiatives
•Responsible for establishing standard policies, protocols, and best practices
•Arranging and leading architectural and design discussions
You'll participate in establishing and directing the execution of long-term strategy and vision of the technology department. Specifically, you'll be:
•Keeping up-to-date with the latest innovations in technology – from new platforms and services to cutting edge tools and libraries
•Participate in managing departmental priorities and helping construct road maps for achieving long-term goals
•Leading the execution of technology strategy and communication efforts for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships
•Constantly evaluating the department to assess organizational and systems efficiencies
Desired Skills & Experience
You'll be integral in keeping our technological infrastructure running day-to-day. This means you'll be:
•Responsible for overseeing some facility management and organizational infrastructure
•Looking for systems acquisitions and vendor/outsource relationship management
•Responsible for department finances and budget, as well as inventory
•Ensuring that our systems and services are running to support both our users and our staff
Requirements:
•Minimum of 8 years experience in the information technology field with a diverse technical background
•Experience in leading and managing an IT team of 10 people including systems, infrastructure and application development
•A background in managing finances, invoices, and budgeting within an IT department
•Hands-on experience with software development/project management methodologies (Scrum, XP, etc.)
•A thorough understanding of web application development and architecture
•Previous hands-on coding experience with a modern programming language (Python, Java, PHP, etc.)
•Experience with SaaS integrations, such as SalesForce or other cloud services/platforms
•Working knowledge of relational databases, such as PostgreSQL or Oracle, as well as other data stores
•Experience with Linux systems
•A well-rounded understanding of networking
•Familiarity with build and deploy tools, such as Jenkins and Maven
•Familiarity with disaster recovery and back-ups
•Experience in a regulated industry (Finance - PCI, Healthcare - HIPAA)
