This is a great opportunity to join the #1 Global Lubricants business in an exciting digital and analytical role. The role offers full responsibility and ownership of a range of analytics products across Lubricants Americas Sales and Marketing value Chain, a significant opportunity to gain deep analytical and business experience. The successful candidate will focus on driving business value by translating the Sales and Marketing Business strategy and Commercial Roadmap to Data strategy to Data Funnel addressing discrete business problems and opportunities, leveraging “transformational moments” to make structural improvement, development of compelling offers, Customer Value Propositions and importantly delivery of analytics product/solutions. Through development of these analytics products and presenting data insights in a meaningful and compelling business outcome, the role will shape Lubes Americas strategy to realize greater business return. All of which will contribute towards the multi-year Digital transformational program of Lubes Americas with the aim to equip Lubricant business with confidence when decision making moments arrive.
The ideal candidate has a knack for seeing solutions in sprawling data sets and the business mindset to convert insights into strategic opportunities and next best actions for our Sales and Marketing staff. The Data Products Manager works closely with leaders across Sales and Marketing to support and implement high-quality, data driven decisions and improve productivity. They will ensure data accuracy and consistent reporting by designing and creating optimal processes for employees to follow. They will use advanced data modeling, predictive modeling, and analytical techniques to interpret key findings from company data and leverage these insights into initiatives that will support business outcomes. The right person for the job will apply their exhaustive knowledge of data analysis to solving real-world problems faced by Lubes Americas and finding opportunities for improvement across multiple projects, teams, and business units. Where you fit in –
As a Data Products Manager, Sales and Marketing, you will manage a portfolio of Sales and Marketing analytics tools, provide strategic business development direction through actionable insights, investigate, shape and deliver our analytics pipeline across the Lubricants Americas functions ( Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Operations and Finance), aligned with Lubes Americas digital strategy. You will collaborate with the wider Digital Transformation team (Data Standards Owner, Data Leads, Digital Leads and Product Owners) to help support the Lubricants Americas delivery of $1.3Bln Profit and >20% ROACE by 2025.
What’s the role -
Own Opportunity Identification & Prioritization : Accountable for understanding business priorities, value drivers, business Strategy, external benchmarks & curation/delivery of Analytics roadmap and Advanced analytics use cases with the Data, helping increase the share of wallet within Lubes Sales & Marketing & Cross business. Challenges the analytics ambitions of the business and prioritizes the analytics delivery, to ensure full value is delivered.
Design, Build, Develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dynamic and interactive drillable dashboards, actionable insights, performance metrics and predictive leading indicators that support key business decisions and address issues and are integrated with Workforce and Customer facing tools.
Product ownership of analytics solutions , responsible of the End to End product life cycle, working with Analytics Delivery team to deliver analytics product innovation and integration.
Drive end user backed approach in solution development , ensures user experience hence value from the product is maximized through combination of end user focused development and change management program
Oversee the design and delivery of analytics and insights that analyze Sales and Marketing key operations, performance metrics and Value opportunities through a very diverse set of stakeholders across the business and functions ranging from delivery teams to strategic thinkers to Sr. Leadership. A non-exhaustive list of currently identified analytics Products that this role will own include:
Implementation, Maintenance and Adoption Support of Sales Analytics (XSell/Upsell, Churn Prediction, Lube Analyst Analytics, Customer Relationship Directory / X-CRM, Sales force Performance analytics)
Design, Build and retool data products like Distributor XUSell, Retail Point of Sale Analytics, Retail Cuts analytics, Leading Indicators/Money Left on the table, Commercial Excellence Analytics, Integration of Dashboards (Sectors Performance, Leading Indicators, Business Performance, Value Opportunities); Demand Analytics (Bulk Tank analytics Retail POS Analytics Historicals Market Data Sales Pipeline Others) to analyze Demand and help Sales & Operations Planning. (S&OP)
Market Analytics:
Lead the Marketing analytics infrastructure and long-term strategy.
Combining data from both external and internal supporting Sector Strategies - Industry research (competitors, trends, etc.), Macroeconomic drives, Historical performance results, Forecasting.
Identify, Strategize, and help deliver advanced analytics use cases like Marketing Spend Optimization, Product Portfolio Optimization, Micro segmentation, Lead Scoring, Attribution modeling, Price Optimization, Sales Forecasting.
Analyze opportunities that exist with connecting Shell Mobility Lubricants Data for cross-sell and for creating “Data as a Service” to our customers.
Support the Data & Strategy, Performance Lead with Hackathons and System, Process, and workflow Optimization
Support Digitalization and Data Lead, Pricing with identification & actionability of Value Opportunities end-to-end through leading and lagging indicators: This includes understanding various business processes & tools being used & their connectivity to bottom line; analyze, visualize and identify value that could be added by changing the status quo; develop the end to end processes of how the indicators are to be used; working with multiple stakeholders and communicate the need for change, gain support and drive action driving efficient processes; eliminate duplicate work leading to one version of truth;
Lead cross-business projects using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities; to create compelling offers and Data Products for customers and Sales and Marketing employees.
Anticipate future demands of initiatives related to people, data, analytics, budget and business within Sales and Marketing and design/implement solutions to meet these needs.
Organize and drive successful completion of data insight initiatives through effective Project management with Analytics Delivery Team and effective collaboration with stakeholders. Clears blockers and solves complex problems to develop the best analytical product for the end users, manage improvement by releases.
Communicate results and business impacts of insight initiatives to stakeholders within and outside of the company.
Master Data Management & Data Foundations : Data quality is a major blocker for doing more advanced and valuable analytics and digital projects. Investing in cleaning up data and redesigning data creation processes, with specific use cases in mind, can generate substantial value. Support the Data Standards Owner with an MDM Strategy and lead the MDM clean-up efforts for Sales and Marketing.
Upskilling through Analytics Bootcamps : Support bootcamp program providing skills development and knowledge around data and analytics with ongoing support delivered digitally through workshops, training events, and a hackathon ; Specific tool and data source training, as well as how to structure and communicate analytics; Monitor and encourage teams to use the tools available and align incentives to do so; Democratize data and analysis and engage teams to drive identification of opportunities putting Customer at the center.

What we need from you -
A legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Degree in Computer Science or Statistics or Mathematics or Data Science or equivalent with at least five (5) years’ experience in Sales and marketing use cases .
Specific skills and experiences must include:
Technical Skills –
Substantial Lubricants or Mobility Value Chain experience with Analytics Product Ownership experience an advantage
Substantial experience in Business Analysis and insight generation, working with internal and external available data in customer centric business an advantage.
Finance / Economics background is an advantage.
Project Management experience needed.
Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on premises and cloud-based data sources.
Strong SQL skills, ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries and perform data analysis.
Understanding of and experience using analytical concepts and statistical techniques: hypothesis development, designing tests/experiments, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and developing actionable recommendations for business units.
Experience and knowledge of statistical modeling techniques: Generalized Linear Model multiple regression, logistic regression, log-linear regression, variable selection, etc.
Working knowledge of using Data Visualization tools like PowerBI / Spotfire / Tableau / Einstein Analytics
Experience working with and creating databases and dashboards using all relevant data to inform decisions.
Experience using analytics techniques to contribute to company growth efforts, increasing revenue and other key business outcomes.
Hands on Data Sciences experience in identifying Sales and Marketing value opportunities, solving customer friction and communicating the results to the organization is a huge advantage.
