We are systems and software engineers who not only own Splunk's internal observability platforms but also coordinate company-changing programs driven by the data that those platforms collect.You Will:Lead one or more programs within the Platform Observability org with impact across the company and visibility up to C-level.As a member of the leadership team, continuously improve program governance and accountability throughout the org.In future, directly manage one or more engineering teams that each own a discrete problem space and have design freedom in pursuing solutions.Seek out every path to support and improve your team's happiness, engagement, and effectiveness.Nurture a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and blameless retrospection within the org and across the company.Mentor and grow junior engineers and managers, and empower and unblock senior ones.You Are:An experienced people manager familiar with the challenges of herding both sheep and cats in large-scale production environments.Comfortable with project management, experienced with running matrixed programs and navigating competing priorities and roadmaps across senior leaders.Comfortable presenting to CEOs and VPs just as much as engineers and salesfolk.Conversant with a wide range of relevant tools and technologies. We don't expect managers to be writing code in their day-to-day job, but your interests should include some subset of: AWS, GCP, Go, Kubernetes, CI/CD, distributed systems, Terraform, and Puppet, not to mention Splunk's own products!Able to align your working hours to keep reasonable overlap with colleagues in US Pacific and Mountain time zones.We value diversity at our company.
