Key Responsibilities/ Job Description:
This technical position is based at the Shell Technology Center in Houston, Texas as a Project Lead supporting the Rotella Technology Manager and the Heavy-Duty Engine Oil (HDEO) portfolio and team. This position contributes to the Global Solutions Downstream team that is responsible for developing technologies for the Shell Lubricants global business servicing customers worldwide. The emphasis is on delivering products and reasons to enable the Shell Lubricants business to achieve objectives of B2B growth, premium product acceleration, Global Key Account growth and cost optimization. The scope of this role involves developing Heavy Duty Engine Oil products, supporting the commercial introduction of these products into their respective markets, and maintaining these product formulations throughout their commercial life. It also includes working with Marketing, Supply Chain, Global Key Accounts core teams and multiple sector teams such as Transport, Agriculture, Construction, and Mining to deliver business solutions. This individual ensures program delivery dimensions for R&D and Technical Service within the global budget. Specific projects are planned on an annual basis and responsibilities include:
R&D Project Management and Product Development:
Delivers projects on time, on-scope and on-budget, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness, driving alignment with global and local stakeholders in technology, in the business, and with external partners. Formulating new products to meet customer needs and sustainability objectives.
Technical Service:
Interfaces with marketing and product management to enable efficient implementation of new products, prompt resolution of supply chain issues and support to Original Equipment Manufacturing business development opportunities.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with Marketing and Supply Chain on HDEO products throughout their lifecycle, from development to support in market. Develop a network within Shell and externally and leverage relationships to add business value. Maintain close technical relationships with Shell global technical resources and external stakeholders.
Skills & Requirements
What we need from you –
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
5 years of working with lubricant formulations and development (Heavy Duty Engine Oil experience preferred)
Strong academic qualifications with experience in R&D or advanced degree / professional experience in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Tribology
Technical knowledge and experience with lubricant industry engine tests, development guidelines and specifications
Proven record of product development delivery, with evidence of drive and creativity coupled with a structured and disciplined approach to project management.
Strong technical capacity and business acumen
Demonstrated ability to respond to customers (e.g. OEMs, Supply chain) with timely business solutions.
Proven team working, inter-personal & networking skills, within the global team / virtual environment with intensive communication (verbal & written)
Strong record of cross-team collaboration with business and external partners (e.g. additive companies, customers/OEMs, Lube Oil Blend Plants, Marketing, Supply Chain, Global Technology stakeholders etc). Ability to lead through influence and maintain and build strong relationships.
