The Client I am currently working with are keen to recruit a multi-disciplined, well experienced project manager for a project in South Devon. They are looking for a manager that has covered large scale sites, preferably within the Heavy project industry, nuclear, plant and/or civils sectors. With demand for strategic metals increasing rapidly due to their critical use in new technology, they are focused on meeting this demand by restarting production on the project which will take between 12-18 months. Join the team & become an integral member throughout the project re-build, commissioning/ramp-up and into production. Over the next 12 to 18 months, they will be undertaking a significant construction and refurbishment project. The project involves the building of a number of new buildings and structures, the installation and commissioning of new plant and technology as well as a significant over-haul of the existing Mineral Processing Plant.
The Role:
The role requires a Construction project manager for the duration of the project; potentially 18 months. The prime purpose of the role is supporting the Construction Superintendent in overseeing the Principal Contractor during installation of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Control/Instrumentation works; liaising with the Contractor's Managers, Site Managers and their H&S Team ensuring a consistent and high standard of work is delivered in accordance with the given specifications. Responsibilities:
Work as a professional, upholding the standards of best practice at all times.
The Supervision of day-to-day contractor delivery.
In collaboration with the TWP Permit Co-ordinator and SHEQ Construction Supervisor to ensure an efficient, safe, secure, and healthy work environment, complying with legislation, standards, and procedures.
Meeting operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews.
Maintaining project plans administration in a correct and timely manner.
Assesses safety goals.
Report on contractor progress and efficiency.
Reporting any concerns, near misses or accidents to the H&S Manager & Construction Superintendent.
Coaching and support the PC, ensuring any 'blockers' to the plan are highlighted and escalated.
Conduct weekly site audits across all areas.
Update daily/weekly reports and review.
Skills & Qualifications:
Essentials:
At least a level 3 qualification, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline.
At least 5 years' experience of overseeing and manging large scale multi-disciplined construction activity.
Experience or knowledge of external document control systems, preferably Asite
Knowledge of working with internal document management systems.
Proficient in Office 365
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload
Excellent mentoring, organisational, presentation and communication skills
Desirable:
Ideally an HNC/HND and a Foundation Degree in building engineering, surveying or civil engineering.
A degree in an Engineering, Associate Membership of the Association of Planning Engineers (ACPENG) and a National Construction Certificate (NEBOSH) would be desirable
