JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Global Finance Communications & Learning position is responsible for supporting finance communications for global finance initiatives impacting finance associates and stakeholders. Primary responsibilities include developing and delivering a communications activities, programs, and content related to strategic Global Finance’s initiatives and human resource annual processes. The position will support the discipline by supporting a “Finance Community” through various engagement channels content and be accountable for managing the Global Finance communications website as well as its ongoing enhancements.
The role will be responsible for the development and execution of the communication approach for the finance discipline. The role will take direction from Global Finance Human Resources leadership for content communications needs and will partner with the Global Employer Brand and HR Communications team, as appropriate, for training, best practices, technology, tools, etc. It will also leverage existing communication platforms across MIHQ and be consistent with our Global Communications strategies. Project work consists of developing and deploying communication programs, communication strategies, messaging, tactics, channels, and tools to effectively bring Global Finance communications to life across the function. This position may also partner on various finance initiatives and implementations to ensure the appropriate communications and tracking are managed and distributed.
The candidate should have a consultative skill set and approach to problem solving, as well as a flexible and collaborative working style. This individual should be comfortable leveraging standard tools and best practices from prior experience to best meet the communications needs of the Global Finance function.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES
Specific Senior Manager Responsibilities Include:
Global Finance Strategic Communications:
Ongoing development of a global, digitally networked Finance community and a model for sustainment of the community.
Partner with Finance Leadership to develop creative programming and content strategies for effective engagement within both live forums and digital channels.
Develop a Finance community “brand voice” and associated tools including a framework for communicating, tracking, and evaluating program activities.
Continually develop strategies that incorporate and leverage new and emerging platforms to include social channels and technologies.
Support finance discipline needs as a communication subject matter expert, including developing and implementing high quality, innovative, cost-effective communication products, programs, and services.
Partner with Global Finance Human Resources to define and execute overall communications strategy.
Prepare, update, and integrate content and materials for various intranet sites, including MGS, shared drive, and other outlets.
Lead the evolution and maintenance of Global Finance’s website and provide new communications technology ideas.
Develop communication best practices by leveraging internal resources, establishing relationships with external subject matter experts, and conducting research and focus groups, etc.
Lead development of Global Finance communication standards, templates, processes.
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, communication teams and subject matter experts to ensure alignment and consistency with broader organizational communication efforts.
Own communication standards, templates, and processes to develop and review/approve deliverables.
Own communication development and vehicles such as internal learning needs, Town Halls, Global Meetings, as well as communication tools including web conferencing, webcasting, Marriott Global Source, Financial Times newsletters, and surveys.
HR Programs and Initiatives:
Provide communications and event management support to portfolio of global finance programs, human resource annual processes, and people development initiatives.
Develop opportunities and associated programming to bring the Finance community together for learning and innovative activities to enhance Finance professional growth and development.
Work with cross-functional project team members to identify and develop solutions for complex project issues, partnering closely to ensure active exchange of information and communication among team
Manage the design, development, and execution of global finance HR programs; ensuring message development and execution are consistent in voice, processes, tools, and services provided to finance customers.
Manage the design and development of communications deliverables, according to the project plan and inclusive of production schedules, review protocols, editing, and coordination of distribution through appropriate channels.
Learning and Development:
In partnership with the Finance HR Team and Learning & Development COE, develop and position the Marriott Finance professional’s core business competency framework.
Ensure the continual pull through of the competency framework into all learning and engagement programming. Continually build upon and evolve existing engagement strategies including practices to develop the Finance professional.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or relevant field
Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in business, communications, consulting, or related professional area
Experience in using innovative communication tools; knowledge and experience in social media networking tools and marketing
Strong program management expertise
Preferred:
Prior experience in communications with Marriott International
Proven communications experience supporting globally branded organizations
Knowledge and interest in field of human resources
Knowledge and Skills
Expert written and verbal communication skills; listens to others and effectively comprehends information
Ability to develop “client-ready” presentation material and communicate effectively to broad range of stakeholders (including senior leaders and hotel associates)
Demonstrated experience working with and influencing cross-functional teams in a matrix organization

Ability to manage multiple work activities concurrently with minimal supervision
