Description:
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated project manager to join the University’s Strategic Projects Team. Working as part of a small team, responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of strategic change across the organisation, you will manage your own diverse portfolio of concurrent change initiatives which will vary in size and complexity. You will work across the full project lifecycle, partnering senior leaders from across our broad and complex organisation, to move ideas in to action and provide expert guidance to shape solutions and ensure benefits are realised. Projects can range from fast paced rapid improvement activities over a period of weeks, through to complex strategic projects and programmes running over multiple years that require detailed planning and continous adaptation as they progress. Due to the complex nature of our organisation and sector, experience in a higher education environment is desirable but not essential. What is important is that you can work efficiently and effectively with senior colleagues, in areas that you may not be familiar with, to quickly understand what is to be achieved and provide professional guidance on approach and implementation that leads to successful outcomes. Whilst the approach to each initiative may vary depending on the requirement, circumstances, and stakeholders, a solid understanding of a formal project management methodology underpins everything that we do; therefore a relevant professional qualification (eg PRINCE 2) would be advantageous. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate success in a similar role, with similar challenges, who enjoys working autonomously in a complex and constantly evolving environment. The ability to build successful relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels is essential. The role is based on the main University of Plymouth campus and we can offer flexible working arrangements to enable an enhanced work/life balance. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Tom Berkien by email at ****. Interviews are likely to take place on Thursday 9 March 2023 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for a period of 12 months due to business demand. Flexible working options including job share will be considered. We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits, including ongoing development opportunities. A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by the University of Plymouth Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Plymouth. Employees of the University of Plymouth Services Limited work alongside the University of Plymouth colleagues in delivery of Plymouth’s strategic vision, and will adopt the University of Plymouth’s HR policies and procedures in full unless otherwise stated. The University of Plymouth is a diverse, welcoming community where everyone makes a difference and is encouraged to bring their whole selves to work. To find out more about our inclusive community, initiatives such as Athena Swan and the Race Equality Charter and our range of benefits / support mechanisms such as flexible working, staff networks and enhanced maternity, paternity & adoption leave please visit our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion webpages We particularly welcome applicants from under-represented groups such as BAME/BIPOC and LGBT .
