Position Purpose
What’s the role –
Project Scheduler is a member of the Norco Energy & Chemicals Park Capital Project Organization and is primarily responsible for developing, supporting and leading the scheduling effort of capital project portfolio schedules from Identify to Operate Phase. Capital projects develops and maintains each capital project master schedule.
Project Scheduler will manage data for over $300mln yearly portfolio spend for the foreseeable future. This role provides support to multi-departmental, cross function project teams, monitors the team’s progress against milestones and baselines, identifies gaps, takes action to mitigate gaps and escalates issues to the Project Manager & Project Services Manager when warranted.
In addition, all members of the Projects & Services Department are expected to demonstrate a passionate commitment to Safety and the Environment.
Responsible for developing, supporting and leading the Front End Engineering, Detail Engineering and Construction Execution schedulers; ensuring compliance to standards and being a of champion of project controls
Participates in regional and global Shell Networks pertaining to scheduling
Steward and audit use of Shell and Norco’s standardized planning and scheduling structures with primavera including use of EPS, WBS, RBS and coding
Understand the workings of and has open communications with numerous other Shell disciplines – project management, turnaround, operations, engineering, procurement, finance.
Becomes fluent in and drives usage of Shell process for managing scope and work as spelled out in Shell’s Asset Management System (AMS); focused on scheduling as it pertains to Capital Projects
Assesses work plans to understand the optimal schedule to achieve Site premises and goals including duration, quality, low cost, and safety performance.
Facilitates Interactive Planning Sessions at each phase gate of assigned projects.
Participates and leads schedule optimization reviews
Participates in, leads, and facilitates schedule assurance reviews
Communicates key issues and risks to the Project Managers and Project Services.
Identifies areas of safety concern, work schedule hours, overhead work, congested areas, within the schedule and assist with developing mitigations.
Drives project progression and schedule attainment for area assigned project throughout engineering and execution and is responsible for master schedule.
Responsible for ensuring all aspects scheduling systems are prepared and utilized to provide Management with required reporting.
Develops and maintains Project type templates.
Oversees the management of files and records for close out
Looks for opportunities and areas of improvement in processes and tools
Provides a critique of activities after completion of event and participates in Lessons Learned and Lookback process.
Is mindful of and continues to look for opportunities to maintain schedule and improve project delivery process.
The Norco Projects & Services department maintains an active schedule. This position will play a very important role in assisting the facility in delivering world class performance in this arena. Turnarounds, Pitstops/Outages, Maintenance and Capital Projects can be a fast-paced and in an ever-changing environment. Individual will be required to balance a multitude of demands while keeping safety the priority in all that they do.

Maintain strong relationship with Project Managers, Engineering Firms, Shell discipline engineers, Construction & Turnaround teams
Skills & Requirements
What we need from you –
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant work experience.
7 or more years of scheduling experience in industrial environment.
Must be proficient with the IT environment (PC, Microsoft Office applications)
Must be skilled with Primavera P6 and SAP/GSAP systems.
Experience in Shell Capital Projects, Construction & Turnaround scheduling practices.
Strong leadership and communication skills. Able to lead a team and contract partners as well as work one-on-one to achieve business objectives.
Knowledgeable in Shell Capital Project Schedule Guidelines, IPA Benchmarking & KPIs.
Able to perform work with little or no supervisor direction.
Demonstrated ability as a Team Player. Willingly offer and accept challenge and feedback on job deliverables.
