Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the planning and designing of broadband communication systems. Inspects projects periodically to ensure adherence to project specifications. Works closely with vendors and local and state officials to ensure projects are completed without issue. Meets with project stakeholders to determine availability of services. Manages team, which may include exempt and non-exempt employees. Provides subject matter guidance to employees as required. Develops processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies, assist in development and meeting of, departmental budget.

About the Team / Role:

The Planning Design and Construction (PDC) team is expanding, and we are looking for a highly motivated, Manager, Design Operations who is passionate about all things related to Fiber Optics design. In this role you will be responsible for aiding in the development of standards and driving adherence with the Divisional Planning & Design stakeholders. Ensuring Quality Control measurements are in place to drive accountability with the Design BPs through performance and funnel management. Partnering with the technical standards and engineering teams to create, communicate, drive, measure and monitor compliance within the Divisional Design Centers and Design BP's. Supporting the launch and continual development of all Design Business tools (IRIS/Iris Web Viewer/Iris Auto Design) and requirements through rationalization/burndown.

What You'll Do:


Oversee the planning and designing of broadband communication systems, including the construction process. Manages workflow, production planning and control and material and labor cost control.

Monitor all staff and conducts quality control inspections to ensure adherence to all company specifications and procedures.

Provide accurate documentation of all projects. Tracks and generates reports on project status.

Establish and maintain standards and practices. Implements and coordinates policies and procedures to uphold safety standards and ensure customer satisfaction.

Represent the Planning Design and Construction function from a national perspective by partnering across multiple teams in HQ and Divisions.

Support the roadmap for fiber documentation, defining best practices and working with tool teams to develop long term solutions that drive accuracy.

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the planning and design experience.

Partner with Divisions & HQ teams on best practice sharing, to ensure standards are being followed and evolve as necessary.

Establish, implement and manage a QC program to ensure standard compliance.

Develop new initiatives for network design process improvements and work cross-functionally to make decisions about priorities.

Support the evaluation of Design Business Partners and monitor funnel management.


Skills & Experience We're Looking For:


8 years of Fiber Optic design experience

3 years Project Management experience or equivalent Team Lead experience

Subject Matter Expert (SME) in HFC, FTTx, EPON/ROLT/VBNG architectures, design specifications, symbology, and standards

Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Metro E, CBH, Wavelength Services, Node Segmentation/Housing Swaps, Crayola/Edge Out, Hyper-builds, Forced Relocate, design specifications and standards

Well-versed with Design Tools/Applications (Spatial, AutoCAD, Bentley, Lode Data)

Proficient in CATV standards and terminology

Knowledgeable in Inside Plant connectivity and terminology

Ability to balance multiple projects at one time with accuracy

Ability to drive consensus and facilitate decision making

Ability to raise escalations and risks to forecast


Certifications and/or Licenses (Preferred, not required):

Industry and vendor specific certifications and training a plus (HFC Design, Spatial Info, Bentley Comms, Lode Data, NCTI, SCTE)

Salary:

National Pay Range: $71,853.37 USD-$168,406.34 USD
