Research and Development (R&D) is responsible for developing deep scientific and technical expertise, novel process development, product development and experimentation capability. What’s the role?

Research and Development (R&D) Project Manager will leverage agile mindset & methods. This person will form, empower, & lead Natural Teams from capabilities across the organization to execute impactful technology developments. They’ll provide a project management framework, that will help to “pivot fast for quality and timely delivery” bringing the desired outcome for all stakeholders.

This role is based out of Energy Transition Center Amsterdam (ETCA and it is a part of R&D Project Management team spread across Technology hubs to support global technology programs. This role will report to the General Manager - R&D Project Management.

Key Accountabilities :


The R&D Project Manager is mainly accountable for supporting strategic product development by delivering tactical projects & milestones
This person will form, empower & lead Natural Teams from capabilities across the Technology organization to execute impactful technology developments via tactical projects by leveraging new ways of working including agile, adaptive project management
This person will work on embedding agile mindset across Technology teams by working with variety of stakeholders such as senior researchers and scientists, data scientist, technologist, experimentalists, external contractors and business partners, leadership members etc


What we need from you


PhD/Masters/Bachelors preferably in Engineering with extensive program or project management experience
Some of this experience should include Research and Development (R&D) touching all stages from qualifying business opportunities through stages of development and deployment using proof of concept (POC), minimum viable product (MVP) and minimum deployable product (MDP) approach. Combination experience from digital and non-digital (hardware) product development will be highly preferred
Proven track record in reducing complexity and risk, generating practical & simple solutions
Experience in leading or managing complex, global projects using agile framework such as scrum, scaled agile and other adaptive project management methodologies
Industry recognized certification in Agile methodology such as scaled agile, product owner
Coaching, training and facilitation skills to enable adoption of agile/change management
Stakeholder management skills, adept at influencing senior leaders. Demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence and deliver under challenging circumstances, removing blockers
Must be willing to work with flexible work hours and work with global stakeholders across different time zones


Location and travel

The role is based in Energy Transition Center at Amsterdam. You’ll be required to attend 1-2 meetings a year, which likely rotate between technology hubs. Additional trips may be required depending where other key project stakeholders are located.
