Job Description
Under general direction, to plan, develop and execute effective marketing, promotional and advertising initiatives to meet long term strategic business objectives for Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) health care products and services.
Typical Tasks
• Prioritizes, develops, designs, and implements marketing projects for SCVMC, and establishes agreed upon timelines for completing marketing requests;
• Coordinates and collaborates with Executive Leadership to determine marketing objectives; • Complies with County and SCVMC guidelines for issuing communications, and developing brand and business identity;
• Collaborates with the Public Communications Program Manager to build strong overall brand awareness for the hospital and clinics;
• Collaborates with staff across the hospital and clinics to effectively implement the business vision and milestones required to execute the business objectives;
• Develops and implements strategies and plans to increase managed care enrollment within SCVMC;
• Coordinates the development, design and implementation of marketing programs that target service line and client populations to increase business to key product lines;
• Determines how communication fits into marketing service lines and client populations and collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to design and execute specific initiatives that contribute directly to the success of the business plan;
• Develops competitive analysis/market intelligence, product and marketing development, revenue retention and growth strategies;
• Implements research efforts to increase knowledge of the internal and external markets, to aid strategy development and implementation of the marketing plan;
• Identifies marketing communication requirements to meet short and long term business goals;
• Develops annual marketing plan that incorporates the use of creative approaches and a variety of tools and resources in order to effectively meet key business strategy objectives for SCVMC;
• Administers and monitors SCVMC's annual marketing budget;
• Acts as spokesperson for the hospital and clinics' marketing;
• Develops and implements online and web-based communications for marketing purposes;
• Prepares and writes speeches and leadership presentations, articles, and other key written communications initiatives, and develops marketing related publications;
• Develops effective collaborative business structures to support affiliates such as a marketing steering committee that enhance effectiveness and efficiencies of marketing with business partners;
• Collaborates with the SCVMC Foundation to support fundraising efforts consistent with the SCVMC's overall marketing plan;
• Trains and plans, assigns, coordinates and evaluates the work of subordinates;
• Represent SCVMC in external events and activities in the community; secures and prepares participant speakers for internal events and prepares outline of speaking programs; • Maybe assigned as a Disaster Service Worker, as required;
• Performs related work as required.
Employment Standards
Sufficient education and experience to effectively perform the above typical tasks and demonstrate the possession of the knowledge and abilities listed below:
Training and Experience Note:
The following knowledge and abilities are acquired through possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
AND
Five (5) years of experience in marketing, communications or public relations that includes two (2) years of project management experience. Possession of a Master's degree in a health related field is desirable.
Knowledge of:
• Principles and techniques of effective communication and public relations;
• Principles and techniques of management, supervision and training;
• Developing and implementing marketing strategies;
• Principles and techniques of project management;
• Developing, articulating and evaluating marketing strategies to meet objectives, including work around branding, media relations, advertising, and corporate or grassroots outreach;
• Funding sources and revenue generation strategies;
• Benchmarking principles to evaluate marketing tactics;
• Common computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
Ability to:
• Manage and speak with media as well as proactively garnering media/publicity;
• Enhance communications strategies to internal and external audiences;
• Develop consistent and innovative messages that reach target audiences;
• Maintain confidentiality as required in the course of conducting business;
• Manage multiple projects and conflicting priorities concurrently;
• Research, design, execute, and evaluate marketing that directly contributes to the achievement of business results;
• Effectively express ideas and concepts both orally and in writing;
• Develop and edit marketing materials including brochures, message statements and strategy memos, internal communications and web updates;
• Develop and implement fiscally responsible budgets and maximizing budget resources to optimize impact;
• Establish a strong rapport and forge relations with the community and collaborate with various stake holders utilizing strong team building skills;
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
