Montana National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research- Project Administrator, Computer Science

The person assigned to this role at the Montana National Science Foundation (NSF) Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) located at the lead institution (UM) functions on behalf of the science team of the grant and is responsible for developing and maintaining an advanced management structure to accommodate and support the Montana NSF EPSCoR Track 2 Grant: Supply Chain Optimization using Aerial Imagery Interpreted with Machine Learning Methods.

This position must work seamlessly with the University of Alaska, Anchorage science team and the University of Montana Grants and Contract personnel. The MT NSF EPSCoR Project Administrator must work closely with federal and state agencies to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies and procedures mandated by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the State of Montana, and other agency partners.

This person has responsibility for collaborating with the Primary Investigator in the development of projects, as well as leading faculty, staff, industry partners, and students in project development and execution. Projects vary depending on the funded scope of work and include maintenance of the project’s web presence, coordination of spending, execution of subcontracts, project reporting, developing meeting schedules, support of stakeholder relations with science team members, and student internship programs.

The successful candidate will have a high degree of independence in setting priorities and executing the affairs and responsibilities of the position. Employees do not directly report to this position; however, this person will functionally have the daily capacity to maintain command and supervision of each participants financial portfolio, including their effective outreach across campus to colleges, schools, departments, faculty labs, and to other universities, invested stakeholders and government agencies.

Position Details

Position is full-time, 0.75 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive

benefits package

including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.

Salary for this position is $52,707- $54,707 per year commensurate with qualifications.

Required Qualifications

The education level must be equivalent in experience, education and knowledge to a bachelor's degree plus one (1) year experience in budget analysis in both pre- and post-award development and fiduciary federal compliance.

Experience in conducting analytical, in-depth management of complex administrative processes, and in handling large, multi-stakeholder and multimillion-dollar accounts is required.

Experience, knowledge, skills, and ability to recognize and apply management experiences to various problems, by using analytical, evaluative, or interpretive processes and independent problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated experience and skills to recognize the suite of approaches needed for refinement of reporting and implementation needs or when to make changes and the knowledge necessary to maintain compliant research behavior and oversee each investigator’s activities in that respect.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, the humanities or a related field and five (5) years related work experience in federal grant award administration, reporting, and compliance.

Experience, education, or training in administration and management related fields is preferred.
