Power Testing and Energization (PTE) Project Manager
POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager to manage projects in our Power Testing and Energization (PTE) group. This position can be located anywhere in the U.S. In the application questions, please let us know your preferred location.
We are looking for candidates with strong business acumen, business development experience (must be a Seller/Doer), and solid electricity/testing technical skills. This is a very fast-paced job working on several short-term projects at a time that may last from a day to several weeks in duration.
Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing technical and financial aspects of PTE projects with responsibilities including, but not limited to:
Taking a significant role in business development and preparing proposals
Developing scope of work criteria, budgets, schedules, and related proposal documents
Managing testing services on electric utility systems from 15kV to 500 kV class
Providing internal mentoring and leadership to junior team members
Leading project teams in a matrixed reporting environment
Organizing internal and external project status meetings
Interfacing with other POWER divisions (studies, substations, industrial, government, distribution, or construction)
This position will require travel of approximately 50%, mostly regionally, with some national clients
Required Education/Experience
Fifteen (15) years’ progressive experience managing substation testing or construction projects at distribution and transmission voltages
Must be familiar with utility processes and have experience managing testing and commissioning projects
Must have a successful track record of leading project teams
Must have a working knowledge of both NETA ATS and MTS testing requirements
Must have a successful track record of interfacing with clients both internally and externally
Familiarity with Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and project estimating
Must have a good understanding of project management techniques and approaches
Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
Desired Education/Experience
BSEE or equivalent industry experience
PMP certification is a plus
Existing relationships with regional electrical utilities that can be leveraged to market testing services
