Architectural Project Manager

for

Facilities Services

. The person assigned to this position will report to the Associate Director of Planning, Design, and Construction, and will administer projects from conceptual stage to construction completion both individually and as a team. The individual occupying this role must possess the ability to understand architectural, civil, structural, and engineering drawings of complex multi-million-dollar projects, and work with private sector architects and engineers contracted to design campus projects. Budget and scheduling skills, along with a thorough understanding of design practices and construction management, are essential to this position. The person in this position will also be responsible for smaller, in-house projects on campus as they arise.

Essential responsibilities and duties associated with this position:

Supervision of campus construction projects as directed by the Associate Director of Planning, Design and Construction (PDC).

Individual must have the ability to administer the projects from conceptual stage to construction completion phase either individually or as a team with other staff. Must be able to keep projects within budget and on schedule.

Ability to understand architectural, civil, structural and engineering drawings of complex multi-million-dollar projects.

Ability to work with private sector architects and engineers contracted to design campus projects.

Supervision of other UM campus related construction projects.

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of PDC.

Position Details

Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.

Salary for this position is $77,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.

Required Qualifications

Degree in Construction management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent.

Have experience in construction management and contractual language/terminology. Be able to understand the workflows & sequencing of construction tasks and Critical path methods.

Experience with managing project budgets and tracking project expenditures.

Demonstrated experience with traditional bidding and contract awards. Ability to manage change order processes.

Ability to work effectively with campus faculty, researchers, students, and administrators.

Ability to make presentations to faculty and staff, administrators and general public.

Possess a clear understanding of current building codes and ADA accessibility standards.

Have great problem-solving skills. Foster a spirit of teamwork within the PDC staff.

Have good MS Word, Excel, Project Manager, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam skills.

Experience with ProCore, EBuilder, or similar construction management software.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of five (5) years of working experience in construction Management.

LEED green associate or accredited professional.

Experience managing Design/Build or GC/CM delivery methods of construction.
