Lead Writer

As part of a collaborative team, the Writer works closely with MarCom Managers, product champions, field engineers, and subject matter experts to develop clear, compelling copy for customer-facing print and digital collateral.
Role and Responsibilities:
Work with others on the creative team to ensure that marketing collateral is completed on brand, on time, and to editorial quality standards
Understand Schlumberger business goals and key differentiators as well as competitors’ offerings
Edit marketing collateral as needed while adhering to an internal communications handbook and style guidelines
Determine the target audience and how Schlumberger products and services benefit the customer
Craft content and positioning statements that serve as the basis of all associated marketing materials and collateral
Manage collateral development workflow to ensure timely completion
Work closely with digital content analysts to optimize content strategy based on digital consumption trends
Keep up to date about the oil and gas industry and how that affects marketing and content strategy
Upload new content and revise existing content as needed in Sitecore content management system (CMS)
Apply versatile communication and problem-solving skills while using knowledge of changing market trends and competitor marketing initiatives and messaging.
Take the lead in exploring new, impactful messaging directions and channels, while adhering to Schlumberger brand standards and web best practices and conveying domain knowledge clearly.
Interpret technical and market information from the MarCom Managers, Product Champions, and subject matter experts (SMEs), while interacting and communicating effectively with these internal clients.
Develop metrics to measure marketing campaigns alongside the stakeholders and Art Director, which will help guide the campaign and course correct as needed during campaign implementation.
Take responsibility for understanding project challenges, goals, and vision.
Manage multiple assigned projects or tasks.
Work with stakeholders and Art Director to provide clear direction at the start of a project and follow through by mentoring writers, helping to guide their efforts and maintain communication and brand standards through the review process.
Inspire creativity, innovative thinking, and focused effort in the development of strong messaging.
Train, develop, and mentor writers.
Produce (refine or initiate) high-quality marketing copy that adheres to brand and communications standards while maintaining marketing messages across multiple product lines.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential requirements
Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, English, or equivalent major
Excellent editing, writing, spelling, and grammar and language usage ability
Experience writing for E&P industry
Strong creative, teamwork, project management, personnel management, and organizational skills
Working knowledge of basic HTML or Sitecore CMS experience
Understanding of marketing basics; excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Exemplifies professionalism to staff and internal clients
Possesses excellent creative, teamwork, organizational, project and time management skills together with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship

Preferred requirements
Strong domain knowledge of well, surface, subsea, and midstream production systems, including completions and downhole artificial lift systems, wellheads and surface production pumps, subsea equipment and processing, and process facilities and production technologies
Knowledge of Oilfield terminology and business practices
Familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style
Experience with project management systems
5 years’ experience in professional writing, editing, communication, web writing, marketing, working with creative teams, and project management
Additional experience in multiple domains and technical challenges
