An engineering project management team manages a diverse range of projects in a complex environment. A project management engineer generally supervises the development, execution, and completion of the given project. Qualifications: The qualification of the project Manger involves having the bachelor’s degree from the leading engineering educational institution. He should have a significant level of expertise in Microsoft office applications like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. An experience of 5-10 years in his relevant industry is also considered as an additional advantage. Knowledge and skills of the project engineering management team: A project engineer should be able to understand and analyze engineering materials and technical procedures. He should be able to apply complex mathematical formulas. He should be able to make persuasive presentation on complex topics to top management, public groups, and boards.
Duties of the project Manager:
1. He should be able to apply principles, practices, laws, and regulation related to his field whether it is civil or mechanical engineeringA project engineer thus has the responsibility or the duty of planning, coordination, communication and control of the entire project, so that he can deliver the project in a proper time in a manner specified to him.
2. He must have an understanding of the physical site layout, so that he would be able to coordinate between various resources in the virtual team
3. The project manager has the responsibility to secure acceptance and approval of stock from project stakeholders
4. The project manager has the responsibility of communication and if there is any unresolved issue it is his responsibility to escalate it.
5. The project manager has the responsibility to make sure that the project is completed within the specified time framework and budget.
6. The project manger has the responsibility of coordinating structural details and design features within the project.
7. It is the responsibility of the project manager to work closely with other departments like geology, hydraulics, maintenance so that he assures that decision in these areas are taken on time and are consistent throughout the project.
These days, a new concept has been formed which is called engineering project management.
